Go to the menu and select Settings. Click your Skype name in the top left corner and then choose Settings from the drop-down menu. Select Close your account on the right-side panel. To confirm your account, re-enter your password.

When Microsoft terminates your account, any chat and files you shared (as well as those you shared with others) will be permanently deleted. You will no longer be able to access old conversations, files, or discussions.

If you linked your Skype account to a Microsoft account, closing it will also delete the associated Microsoft account. This may not be what you want because your Microsoft account is also used to access Outlook.com, Xbox Live, OneDrive, and other Microsoft services.

After two years of inactivity, your Microsoft account will be deleted and reset, making it impossible to restore. 2. It would be difficult to establish an account that had been inactive for two years. Accounts that have been terminated have a 60-day waiting period before they are reactivated.

Go to your account. In the Account details area, click Account Settings. Next to your Microsoft account ID, unlink it by clicking Unlink next to it.
