Is it the same as removing a Twitter account? No. Consider deactivating your account as a way to notify Twitter that your account should be deleted. Within minutes of deactivating it, Twitter will remove all of your information from their website and place your account in the permanent deletion queue.

When you delete your account, all of your tweets, likes, and comments are removed from the site for up to 30 days. This may take minutes or a few days, depending on how big your Twitter presence was before deletion.

You’ve completed the first step in protecting your privacy by deleting your account on Facebook. Log into Twitter and create a new account if you haven’t already. Go to Settings and Privacy from the top right corner of your profile page. After that, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click Deactivate Your Account. An additional window will appear.

To delete your Twitter account, go to the site and log in to your account. Select More > Settings and Privacy from the drop-down menu. In the Account area of the menu, choose to Deactivate your account. Choose Deactivate when prompted again, then enter your password once more and (again) click Deactivate account.
